The association "Lokale Agenda 21 in Wien" organized on the 27th of May in cooperation with three other major Viennese institutions the 1st Viennese Neighbour's Day. The initiative included 66 events distributed over the whole city area. The range of actions reached from local feasts to picnics, from cultural performances to exhibitions of photography, from joint cooking to playing together. The official opening was made by Rudolf Schicker, the Viennese alderman of urban planning, who particulary emphasized the importance of neighborhood for social cohesion and sustainable life quality.
